Alter Bridge adalah Rock band berasal dari Orlando, Florida Amerika yang dibentuk tahun 2004 di Orlando, Florida. . Band ini sebagian terbentuk dari bekas anggota band Creed. Yaitu 3 dari 4 personilnya, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, dan Scott Phillips sebelumnya tergabung dalam Creed. Lantas Myles Kennedy yang sebelumnya bergabung dalam The Mayfield Four bergabung dan membentuk band baru, The Alter Bridge. Nama band ini diambil dari nama jembatan yang terletak di Grosse Pointe, Michigan, dekat dengan rumah lamanya di jalan Alter Road.
Kesuksesan saat berada dalam grup Creed dengan meraih banyak platinum tak mengikuti mereka di grup barunya ini. Alter Bridge dikenal hanya lewat album pertama mereka One Day Remains (2004). Setelah sukses menjalani tur pertama mereka, Alter Bridge melepas kontrak mereka dengan Wind-up Records di tahun 2006 dan beralih ke Universal Republic, dan merilis album kedua BLACKBIRD di bulan Oktober 2007.
Perlu waktu dua tahun, yang mereka habiskan dengan menjalani tur dan mempersiapkan album terbaru merkea sebelum akhirnya merilis album ketiga di tahun 2010, AB III. Di album ketiga tersebut, sekali lagi mereka berpindah label ke Roadrunner Records. Selain album studio, The Alter Bridge juga merilis album live dan konser mereka di Amsterdam tepat di Januari 2011 setelah dua tahun tertunda.
Secara keseluruhan, karir mereka yang sedang-sedang saja banyak mendapat kritik positif. Band ini dikenal atas intensitas mereka mengadakan touring dan juga fans mereka yang loyal. Tak hanya bergabung dalam Alter Bridge tiap anggotanya juga bermain dalam proyek individu lainnya, termasuk solo karir, Creed, dan juga kolaborasi Kennedy dengan Slash.

2004 - Penghargaan emas dari RIAA atas album pertama mereka, ONE DAY REMAINS.
2009 - Band heavy metal terbaik dekade ini urutan 36 versi Ultimate Guitar Archive
2010 - Ties That Bind dari album BLACKBIRD masuk sebagai lagu bergitar terbaik dekade ini urutan ke-41 oleh Total Guitar
- AB III menjadi album terbaik ke-7 di tahun 2010 versi Ultimate Guitar Archive
2011 - Duet permainan gitar mereka dalam lagu Blackbird dinobatkan menjadi solo gitar terbaik oleh Guitarist
- Mendapat voting sebanyak 7,2 juta suara dalam BATTLE OF THE FANS Fuse TV mengalahkan Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace.
